The Good Thing About Anxiety

All feelings have a function, and feelings prepare us for action.

The very word emotion comes from the Latin emovere which means, "to move."

Remembering that all feelings have a function is incredibly important when thinking about anxiety.

When it comes to anxiety, we are often focusing on getting rid of it.

Clearly, there are many ways that anxiety disrupts our lives, which is why it makes sense to want to diminish its effects.

But before even working toward managing anxiety, it is important to remember its functions.

Anxiety helps us anticipate potential loss.

Anxiety helps us think carefully about important decisions.

Anxiety prompts us to engage in important activities.

So, as hard as it is to believe, there are actually good things about anxiety.
