Dr. Isaac Weaver
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I am an Ohio licensed psychologist (P.07662) with clinical expertise honed through clinical, supervisory, teaching, and administrative experience in community-based, private practice, and juvenile justice settings. I have nearly ten years of education in psychology, and special training in graduate and post-graduate settings related to clinical work with children and adolescents. Since 2011, I have worked with children, adolescents, families, and adults to address a wide range of concerns through counseling and assessment.
Areas of focus in counseling (sometimes also called therapy) include difficulties in childhood and adolescence (i.e., anxiety, depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, AD/HD, mood disorders, trauma, behavioral concerns), and treatment of anxiety disorders.
My experience with assessment (sometimes called psychological testing or psychological evaluation) is broad and includes evaluations for missionaries, transitional assessments for international students, assessment of childhood disorders (i.e., intellectual disorder, AD/HD, learning disorders) and court-ordered psychological assessments.
The claim that psychology is an “art and a science” rings true to me in that I believe the role of a psychologist is to root services in the most contemporary research while remaining responsive and respectful to the unique aspects of those seeking care. In my work as a psychologist, I am honored to help others develop deeper understandings of themselves as they make positive changes.
I currently serve as the President of Akron Area Professional Psychologists, and I am also involved in the Ohio Psychological Association. I have prior experience as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team at Children’s Network of Stark County (2017-2019). I am married with three children, and when away from the office, I enjoy spending time with family, tending to the garden (and chickens!), picking the guitar, and rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
